The homeowners came to us after receiving a work order from the city following an inspection by the fire department. The basement had been reported as an illegal rental unit, and they were ordered to stop renting the space until it was brought up to code.

Our team assisted the homeowners in obtaining the necessary permits and completed the required renovations to convert the basement into a legal secondary unit.

The Whitby project included refinishing and upgrading the basement to meet building and fire code requirements, allowing the property to be legally used as a duplex.
